Promote Love this Valentines Day
With each new day there is a new opportunity to make an unforgettable mark on the world around you. What will your mark be? Our Mariamor motto is Every day, Spread Love… and what better time of year to promote love than Valentine’s Day!
Here are a few of our favorite ideas to help you spread love to the people around you through random acts of daily kindness.
- Give Back
Your time is one of the best gifts you can give. Look for opportunities to volunteer in your community through something that motivates and interests you. If you love pets, volunteer at your local animal shelter. Read to kids at schools or libraries, or get involved with your area food bank. The possibilities are endless!
- Show care and kindness to the homeless.
Homeless people are some of the most vulnerable, yet overlooked, members of our society. It states in Matthew 25:40: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” When you show kindness (whether it’s a smile, your pocket change, or a warm meal) to those less fortunate, you are making a difference in someone’s life and changing the world.
- Feed expired parking meters.
Keep loose change in your car so if you see a car parked at a meter that has expired, you can refill it and help a stranger avoid getting a parking ticket.
- Buy coffee for a stranger.
Spread love by picking up the tab of the person behind you in line at your favorite coffee shop. Your gesture is sure to brighten up their day.
- Spread your light.
The world can be full of negativity. Spread happiness by being more positive in your daily interactions with people. Compliment a stranger or leave an anonymous note on a coworker’s desk to thank them for helping you with a project. Even just being more mindful about smiling and maintaining eye contact during every conversation can be a difference-maker.
- Contact a teacher or mentor who made a difference in your life.
Share gratitude with the people who made you who you are today. Whether it is a teacher, coach, mentor, or friend, reach out to them and thank them for everything they did for you.
As Mother Teresa said, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” Your daily actions of kindness can cause a beautiful ripple effect… leaving only love in your wake. So reach sincerely for the hearts of others and know that together we are leaving an unforgettable mark on the world.
